If it’s training you need, we can help you with this.
Why become a driving instructor with Roadio?
Be your own boss - becoming a driving instructor means you are large and in charge! There's no boss telling you what to do, and you make all the important decisions.
You can meet new people every day and give back to the community, creating the safest drivers around.
Improved work and life balance - Because you're the boss, you make the rules. You can be in control of your working hours, giving you a better work-life balance and improving your mental wellbeing.
Become a respected, qualified expert - You'll get your hours of training and be able to earn a living as a newly qualified driving instructor in your local area.
At other national driving schools, you’re just a number. Once you become a driving instructor in our driving school franchise, you become a part of our team.
Become an Approved Driving Instructor with Roadio Driving School
At Roadio Driving School, we’ll help you become a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

How it works
To become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) in the UK, you must pass three key tests set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA):
1. ADI Part 1: Theory Test
Similar to the learner driver theory test, but more advanced.
Includes:
- Multiple-choice questions on road safety, driving laws, and instructional techniques.
- Hazard perception video clips to assess your ability to spot developing hazards.
2. ADI Part 2: Driving Ability Test
A practical driving test to demonstrate your advanced driving skills.
Covers:
- Expert control of the car.
- Driving techniques, including manoeuvres and eco-friendly driving.
- A high standard of awareness, anticipation, and safety.
3. ADI Part 3: Instructional Ability Test
A practical test to assess your ability to teach learners.
Requires:
- Planning and delivering effective lessons.
- Tailoring your instruction to the learner’s needs.
- Demonstrating clear communication and knowledge of driving standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a full UK or EU driving licence for at least three years.
- Have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
Once you’ve passed all three parts, you’ll be officially added to the DVSA’s Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) register. Then you’ll be ready to teach!
